About the Speaker

Prof. Avigdor Gal is a professor of data science and the Benjamin and Florence Free Chaired Professor at the Technion. He is currently on sabbatical at the Joan and Irwin Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute in New York. He was (and still is) the driving force behind the pioneering academic programs of data science and data science engineering for the university’s undergraduate and graduate programs, and the head of the Big Data Integration Laboratory. In the current age of big data, Prof. Gal’s research is focused on developing novel models and algorithms for data integration. He is an expert in data science, and together with his research group touches upon data management, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
