TECHNION professor featured on cnn

CNN took viewers into Technion Professor Jeff Steinhauer’s laboratory on August 28 to witness a breakthrough in physics that has the scientific community abuzz. As you may have read in last month’s eNews edition, Prof. Steinhauer created a model black hole that he says demonstrates Stephen Hawking’s theory that radiation can escape the grip of a black hole.

Israel, the U.S., & Driverless Cars

The Jerusalem Post just featured an op-ed by Boaz Golany, Technion Vice President for External Relations and Resource Development. His piece explains how top U.S. companies are seeking to acquire the technology needed to develop driverless cars. Uber and Ford recently bought Israeli companies—led by Technion graduates—to provide expertise in computer vision, communication systems and artificial intelligence.

Grads Create Intel's 'Fastest-Ever' Processor

The Times of Israel wrote about “Kaby Lake,” Intel Corp.’s 7th generation processor, which promises to be the strongest and fastest ever. This new chip is over 70% quicker than a 5-year-old PC, promising longer-lasting battery and better security. The first computers with the new processors are expected to hit the market in September. Intel Israel is known for its sizeable presence of Technion graduates.

Steve Blank is one of the country’s top experts on entrepreneurship. Recently our Executive Vice President, Jeff Richard, sat down with Steve for his SiriusXM radio program. During his show, “Entrepreneurs Are Everywhere,” Jeff spoke about ways to bring the ethos of entrepreneurship to philanthropy and how to bring an entrepreneurial spirit to his work. Jeff said, “Just like in business, when it comes to philanthropy, you must be willing to take risks, think differently, and dream big.”

Alum, Israeli Startups & U.S. Mayo Clinic

The prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN has turned to Israel to import some of its entrepreneurial medical know-how. Launched recently by Technion’s Rappaport Medical School alumnus Dr. Amir Lerman, the Mayo Clinic Israeli Startups Initiative plans to invest in Israeli medical technology with the aim of accelerating the commercialization and availability of medical innovations in the U.S.
