In the wake of the disastrous events in Japan, the Technion has reached out to find one of its former Japanese students. Shumon Mori, who earned his bachelor’s degree in physics in 2008, is safe in Tokyo, working in a consulting firm, and appreciative of the Technion’s concern.

Haifa Calling 


The first ever ATS/Technion Phonathon is underway. Eight students in Haifa are calling some 2,600 Technion supporters from across the U.S. The students are sharing information about the Technion’s vital role in Israel’s high-tech future, and asking donors to increase their level of support.

FREE Webinar on Innovative Fat Removal 


Check out the latest innovation coming out of the Technion: an ultrasonic device for the non-invasive removal of fat tissue. T3, the technology transfer and licensing arm of the Technion, along with the law firm Ballard Spahr LLP, will present a webinar on April 6 on “Innovative Ultrasonic Technology for Medical and Aesthetic Fat and Tissue Removal.” The web-based seminar will be the first of a series sponsored jointly by T3 and Ballard Spahr, which focuses on patent, trademark and copyright law.

Technion Alumnus Heads Faculty of Architecture 

Kalai Yehuda

After studying and teaching in the U.S. for 32 years, Technion alumnus Professor Yehuda Kalay returns to become the new dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning. He earned his master’s degree at the Technion, researching the use of computers for computer aided design. He went on to develop CAD programs at SUNY-Buffalo and the University of California, where he has taught since 1992, and where he was a founding member and past director of the school’s Center for New Media.
